"God, I wish," Kat says, huffing out a laugh, though she's aware of how out of place it must be. There's nothing funny about a situation like this, and she should really stop to explain before anything else. It's hard to help, though, especially after a year in this place. California would be a hell of a lot more normal, and it wouldn't involve being stuck somewhere so far away from her family. Even if she couldn't explain the whole suddenly arriving here out of nowhere thing, it would at least be a little less insane to be somewhere that actually exists on a map.
