A self-described "cool, collected queen," Prior Walter is a charming, thoughtful, romantic young man living in New York in the mid-'80s. Usually steady and calm, ready with a bon mot, he's been living in a state of perpetual terror since discovering he has AIDS, all the more so because it's brought him into contact with actual angels who want him to carry a message to the world to stop moving. It's not a message he believes in. Prior arrives in Darrow from near the end of Angels In America: Perestroika, having rejected both the epistle and Louis's attempt to get back together.
